Abstract: With continuous development of electric power market, a growing number of high-voltage electric equipments are put into use. However, there exists some hidden troubles during their operation. So it is necessary to conduct the test, especially insulation performance test. The equipment mostly used in the test is impulse voltage generator. This article analyzes output characteristics of this equipment under different loads and its synchronization. Corresponding improvement measures are taken to provide a solid foundation for safe operation of all kinds of high-voltage electric equipments.

Before high-voltage electric equipments are put into use, it is necessary to conduct tests in order to improve the operation safety. At present, an increasing number of impulse voltage test objects emerge in the market. Generally speaking, the capacitance of high-voltage cable has high load grade. while some transformers with small inductance load also have mH load grade. During the test, impedance properties of different equipments need to be coordinated to ensure that the waveform of operation wave or lightning wave conforms to the standard. When recalculating and selecting test parameters, it will have some influence on synchronization characteristics. Therefore, in view of actual condition, relevant improvement measures should be taken to ensure that output waveform conforms to the standard.
